RECREATIONAL PROGRAM

Little Starters ( 3 – 5yrs)

Program is designed to introduce rhythmic gymnastics.

Our Recreational Program is designed to introduce girls ages 6 and up to Rhythmic Gymnastics and athletic conditioning. Program activities include cardiovascular fitness and body conditioning, jumping, balances, stretching, basic acrobatics skills, introductory apparatus handling, body movement and rhythmic mechanics. The class time ranges from 1 to 2 hours per week depending on the age and skill level and is ideal in developing concentration, memory, strength, coordination, stamina, and creativity. Class structure is very disciplined, highly engaging and nurturing to develop the love of exercise and Rhythmic Gymnastics. The girls in this program usually practice one day a week and are included in all club activities except team competitions. Our goal is to help your child to fall in love with physical activity, body movement and rhythmic gymnastics. So, our coaches make recreational classes engaging, fun, and challenging at the same time.

Program Three: Pre-Competitive Team:

For gymnastics who want to continue with rhythmic gymnastics or are at a more advanced level and want to train at a competitive level, but without participating in actual competitions. Class time can range from 3 to 6 hours and faster paced than our recreational classes. The training is focused on correct body movement, apparatus handling and learning basic to advanced elements. Girls in the Pre-Com program usually practice 3 to 6 hours a week and are required to take a minimum of 1 ballet class per week.

Program Four: COMPETITIVE TEAM

At PDXRB, gymnasts begin competing in level 3 with an option to join group or Pre-Comp when entering. Gymnasts are handpicked from a Pre-Comp class and invited to be a member of the competitive team. As a gymnast’s abilities increase, the gymnast moves up in level, which includes more difficult skills and requires more hours of practice per week. Coaches determine if a student should move up a level at the end of each competitive season and typically communicate that information in Spring/Summer.

FOCUS: Basic techniques of the body would be reinforced, and a progression of harder body and apparatus difficulties will be taught. Athletes will learn their own choreographed routines to be prepared for both local and State Competition. Eligible Competitions: Age group competitions at International Competitions (min 1 a year).

Time Commitment for Team

The number of hours a gymnast practices per week is determined by the gymnast's competitive level. Team members practice 12 months per year with 2 weeks of vacation. For team members to receive the most effective coaching and floor space, all gymnasts must attend at the scheduled practice time on a consistent basis.
